Stephanie McGregor appointed as next CEO of Marinus Link: to lead project delivery

Marinus Link Pty Ltd (MLPL) has appointed industry leader Stephanie McGregor as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the project beyond the current critical design, development, and approvals phase and into project delivery.

Ms McGregor will join the project on 31 March 2025 as CEO Designate and will assume the CEO position on 2 June 2025.

MLPL Chair Sandra Gamble said Ms McGregor brings a wealth of knowledge, with more than 25 years of international experience in developing and delivering vital energy infrastructure and subsea transmission projects across the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia.

“Stephanie has led large and diverse teams and is passionate about fostering positive change for communities and the environment,” Ms Gamble said.

“The entire Marinus Link team has been working hard to put the project in a very strong position. We are thrilled to have Stephanie lead this critical energy infrastructure project through the delivery phase.”

Marinus Link will improve the electricity and data connection between Tasmania and Victoria and is jointly owned by the Australian, Tasmanian and Victorian governments.

Current interim CEO, Dr Collette Burke, will remain in the role until 30 May 2025, guiding the project through a series of critical decision points and leading a comprehensive onboarding program before handing the reins to Ms McGregor.

Dr Burke will then resume her role as a director on the Marinus Link board.

“Collette has led the project since October 2024, and a key part of her remit was supporting the board to secure a high calibre permanent CEO to lead the project for the long-term,” Ms Gamble said.

“Under Collette’s steady leadership and guidance, the project has continued to gain strong momentum and progress through several important milestones, including capability building within the organisation, submitting a Revenue Proposal, shortlisting two consortia for the Balance of Works tender, progressing environment and planning approvals and driving towards Final Investment Decision.”
