Australian Energy Regulator publishes Marinus Link Revenue Proposal Part B (Construction costs) issues paper for public comment

On Friday 21 March, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) published its issues paper in response to the Marinus Link Revenue Proposal – Part B (Construction costs).

The issues paper sets out the AER’s initial observations on the proposed construction costs and the procurement process to date and provides an important opportunity for the public to provide feedback.

Marinus Link submitted its draft revenue proposal in November 2024. The document proposed the Maximum Allowable Revenue (or ‘MAR’) for stage 1 of the project based on several factors, including the final costs to complete the project, the cost of debt, return on equity, depreciation of the asset, and other factors.

As part of this process, the AER publishes an Issues Paper for public consultation, where it raises what it considers key areas of focus within the proposal.

This is an important part of the project’s planning and procurement process to ensure clarity and confidence for the community and energy consumers about the impact and benefits of Marinus Link in delivering cleaner, affordable, and more reliable energy in the future.

AER is encouraging responses to this issues paper before 18 April and will be holding a public webinar on 3 April.
