The Tasmanian Government has announced the appointment of experienced energy leader Matthew Groom as a Director of Marinus Link Pty Ltd (MLPL), reinforcing strong governance as delivery of the Marinus Link project progresses.
Matthew brings deep expertise across the energy sector, law, and corporate governance. His background includes serving as Tasmania’s Minister for Energy, as General Counsel of Hydro Tasmania’s former renewable development business Roaring 40s, and as a current Non-Executive Director of TasRail. Importantly, he also has a strong understanding of Project Marinus and the significant role it will play in unlocking Tasmania’s renewable energy potential, strengthening energy security, and supporting long-term economic growth.

Matthew’s appointment ensures Tasmanian representation at the Board level as Marinus Link progresses through its delivery phase.
As we welcome Matthew, we also take this opportunity to sincerely thank outgoing Board Director Kevin Kehl for his outstanding contribution to Marinus Link.
Kevin has been closely involved since the early stages of the project, and has played an integral role in guiding Marinus Link through its formative years and key milestones. His leadership and commitment have helped position the project for the progress we are seeing today.
While Kevin will continue to contribute to Tasmania’s energy future as a Director of TasNetworks, supporting the delivery of the North West Transmission Developments, we are grateful for his dedication to MLPL and the lasting legacy he leaves within the organisation.
