Development Application
The Development Application for the proposed Heybridge Converter Station provides information required in accordance with Clause 6.1.1 of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme and provides details of the location and a full description of the proposed use and development. The Development Application provides an assessment against the performance criteria for the following codes:

Environmental Impact Statement
The Heybridge Converter Station – Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) provides information on the potential environmental and social impacts of the proposed converter station component of the Marinus Link project, and measures to be implemented to maximise positive outcomes and minimise adverse impacts.

Assessment process
EIS public exhibition
From 4 January – 18 February 2025, this EIS will be on public exhibition for 42 days so that the public can view the documents and make written submissions.
Public submissions can be made in writing, and addressed to the General Manager, Burnie City Council, and can be submitted through email; burnie@burnie.tas.gov.au or by post, PO Box 973, Burnie, Tasmania, 7320.
The Heybridge Converter Station requires a permit from Burnie City Council under the LUPA Act and the Tasmanian Planning Scheme. The EIS will be assessed by the EPA Board in accordance with the requirements of the EIS guidelines and the process set out in Section 24 and Section 25 of the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 and associated regulations and policies. If the converter station receives approval from the Burnie City Council, a planning permit will be issued. This permit will include any conditions required by the Burnie City Council and the EPA Board for the use and development of the Heybridge Converter Station.
