Development Application

The Development Application for the proposed Heybridge Converter Station provides information required in accordance with Clause 6.1.1 of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme and provides details of the location and a full description of the proposed use and development. The Development Application provides an assessment against the performance criteria for the following codes:

  • Rural Zone – Building height
  • Road and Railway Assets Code
  • Telecommunications Code
  • Natural Assets Code
  • Scenic Protection Code
  • Coastal Erosion Hazard Code
  • Potentially Contaminated Land Code

From 4 January – 18 February 2025, this Development Application was on public exhibition for 42 days so that the public could view the documents and make written submissions. Public exhibition has now closed.

Environmental Impact Statement

The Heybridge Converter Station – Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) provides information on the potential environmental and social impacts of the proposed converter station component of the Marinus Link project, and measures to be implemented to maximise positive outcomes and minimise adverse impacts.

Supplement to the EIS

From 4 January – 18 February 2025, the Heybridge Converter Station EIS was on public exhibition for 42 days so that the public could view the documents and make written submissions.

Following the exhibition of the Heybridge Converter Station EIS, a supplement to the EIS was prepared to address additional requirements from the Board of the EPA and public representations.

The Supplement to the Heybridge Converter Station EIS was accepted by the Board of the EPA on 14 August 2025. The EPA Board is currently assessing the proposal in accordance with its statutory approval timeframes.
